Paula S. Hirt

Dr. Paula Hirt graduated from Brooklyn College with honors and went on to obtain a Master of Science and Medical Degree from New York University School of Medicine.  She then completed her residency at Bellevue Hospital-NYU Medical Center in Obstetrics/Gynecology.  For over 30 years she has been an attending physician on staff at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip.

Dr. Hirt is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is a member of the Bellevue Obstetrical and Gynecological Society, North American Menopause Society, New York State Medical Society, the Suffolk County Obstetrical-Gynecological Society and the American Medical Association. Since 2001 Dr. Hirt has been listed as a “Top OB-GYN Doctor on Long Island” by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. as reported in Newsday and other publications.

Dr. Hirt is married and has two children. In her free time she enjoys gardening, as well as taking care of her Koi Pond and extensive collection of beautiful fish.

Dr. Emily Gubert has been with South Shore Gyn-Ob since 1991. For over 25 years she has been an Attending Physician on staff at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip. Dr. Gubert graduated from Hunter College CUNY with honors and got her medical degree at Mount Sinai/ICAHN School of Medicine. She then completed a 4 year Residency training program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Lukes/ Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City.

Dr. Gubert is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is a member of the American Medical Association, Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, Suffolk County Obstetrical-Gynecological Society and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM).

Dr. Gubert is married and has three children. She enjoys yoga, horseback riding, hiking and reading. She is also fluent in Italian and some Spanish.

Tina Zicolella

South Shore Gyn-Ob is proud to announce the newest member of our team, Tina Zicolella, PA. Ms. Zicolella is a graduate of the University at Albany, Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Psychology, Dean’s List, magna cum laude. Continuing her education, she became a Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Mercyhurst University of Physician Assistants in Erie, PA. While pursuing her degrees Ms. Zicolella worked as a certified NYS EMT, was a CPR instructor and worked as a tutor/mentor in a Science & Technology Entry program serving underprivileged and underrepresented middle and high school students.

Ms. Zicolella is a NYS Registered Physician Assistant and a NCCPA Certified Physician Assistant. She is also a Basic Life Support Provider and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Provider. She is a current member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), Beta Beta Beta National Biological Honor Society, National Society of Leadership and Success and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. In her free time Ms. Zicolella enjoys gardening, baking, drawing, painting and going to the beach as often as possible.

Ms.Zicolella has always had a strong interest and passion for women’s health. By joining our practice, she hopes to establish strong roots in our community and continue her career at South Shore Gyn-Ob.

After almost 14 years it is with heavy heart that South Shore Gyn-Ob announces the retirement of Kathleen Dropela, CNP, on 10/31/2020. Throughout her career Ms. Dropela has reached out to others warmly and generously and has truly made a difference here. She has given so much of herself to all her patients and has always promoted excellence of care here at South Shore Gyn-Ob. As she leaves our practice to spend more time with her husband and family, we want to wish her great joy in her retirement even though the doctors, the staff and all her patients will miss her terribly.

Kathleen Dropela joined South Shore Gyn-Ob in 2007. She graduated from State University of New York for Nursing. Continuing her education at St. Josephs College, Patchogue, New York, she graduated with honors with a B.S. in nursing. She followed this with a Master of Science, Nurse Midwifery, State University of Stony Brook, NY. She is a licensed Certified Nurse Practitioner in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Certified Nurse Midwife.

Jay A. Miller

M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

Jay Miller (10/10/1944 – 8/1/2020) has made a significant contribution to the world as well as to his former home here at South Shore GYN-OB.

Dr. Miller was Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He was a member of the American Medical Association, New York State Medical Society, Suffolk County Medical Society, The Obstetrical and Gynecological Society of Suffolk County, American Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology and the American Fertility Society. For over 40 years he had been an attending physician on staff at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip.

Dr. Miller served in the military for 7 years. In addition to his medical practice he was an accomplished pianist.
